Robert Richard Zabel, 84, of Waupun, died Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Markesan Resident Home.

Bob was born January 27, 1935 in Green Lake County, the son of the late Clarence and Gladys Bahr Zabel. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1958. On December 3, 1960 he married Janice Hoefs at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fox Lake. The couple lived in Waupun most of their married lives. Bob was employed by National Rivet of Waupun as a machinist where he retired in 1990. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater.

Bob is survived by his son, Brian Zabel of Green Lake; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers: Ronald (Becky) Zabel of Markesan, Larry (Kathy) Zabel of Fond du Lac, and David (Louise) Zabel of Markesan; two sisters: Barbara (Steve) Vandebrink of Brandon and Sharon (Gary) Yunto of Illinois.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Janice in 2015; his parents; and a daughter, Lori Zabel in 2006.

Visitation

Friends and relatives may call on the family on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Services

Funeral services for Robert Richard Zabel will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater with Rev. Bob Rosenberg officiating. American Legion Post 282 of Markesan will provide military rites.

Burial

Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Fox Lake.

    Bob and I have been Friends for years. Ever since I moved to Waupun we have been friends. A good man. Sorry I or my wife could not come to the Funeral Home, because of health issues.
