Alan "Al" D. Vinz, age 64 of Markesan, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Barrett House in Ripon.

Visitation for Al will take place on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow at Kingston Town Hall. Inurnment will take place at Lake Maria Cemetery at a later date.

Al was born in Portage on December 9, 1958, the son of Lila (Schultz) and Morris Vinz Sr. He was an active member of 4H growing up and became a leader in his later years. After high school, Al attended UW-River Falls and earned his bachelor's degree in 1984. On October 5, 1985, he was united in marriage to his wife, Cathy Popp in Markesan. Al had 40 years of service to the foundry in Markesan. He also served on the Town of Manchester Board for several years, many as Chairman, and was past president of the Waupun chapter of Wings over Wisconsin. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially pheasant hunting in South Dakota with his dogs and friends. Most of all, he was a loving husband, proud father, and papa.

Alan is survived by his wife, Cathy Vinz; son, Alex (Crystal) Vinz; grandchildren, Magnolia and Wilder Vinz, with one more girl on the way; brothers, Morris (Leta) Vinz Jr., and Steve (Kristi) Vinz; brother-in-law, Dan (Kelly) Popp; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Vinz; brother-in-law, Charlie Popp; sister-in-law, Michelle Popp; and mother-in-law, Elaine Popp; and other relatives.
