Obituary

Alvin G. Rominsky Sr, age 83 of Beaver Dam, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 28, 2009 after suffering many years of heart failure and cancer.

He was born on March 15, 1926, the son of William and Amalia (nee Borowski) Rominsky in Butternut, WI. He served his country in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946 and Army Air Force Base Unit at Fort Buckley in Denver, Colorado. After serving in WWII with a tour in the Phillippines, he later graduated from Port Edwards High School in Wisconsin. Alvin married Margaret Nelson on September 12, 1948 and his second marriage was to Joy West on July 21, 1970.

Al was a Police Officer in Beloit in the 1960's and spent most of his life as a car salesman. He was once the proud owner of Al's Auto Sales and Lord Delaware tavern in Minnesota Junction, WI. After retirement he was a C.N.A. at Beaver Dam Care Center. Al was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Burnett, American Legion Post #146 of Beaver Dam and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 1163, where he served as a past commander.

Survivors include wife, Joy Rominsky; ten children, William (Joyce) Rominsky, Ernie (Jamie) Lohman, Jenni (Stan) Underhill, Mary (Keith) Deibert, Patrick Rominsky, Jerry Lohman, John (Lisa) Lohman, Alvin (Bonnie Eisele) Rominsky, Rebecca (Richard) Peterson and Sarah (William) Blanchard; eleven grandchildren, Jessica Rominsky, James Underhill, Mike Deibert, Mat Deibert, Mark Lohman, Ashley Lohman, Ryan Rominsky, Crystal Fehring, Richard Peterson, Samantha Blanchard & Madelyn Blanchard; sister Lydia (Charles) Karnatz and sister-in-law Gladys Romansky.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, William and Amelia (Borowski) Rominsky, his son James Rominsky, his sister Amanda (Arnold) Appel, his brothers Melvin (Janet) Rominsky and Ervin Romansky.

Visitation for Alvin will be on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from 5-7 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. American Legion Post #146 is invited to greet the family and pay their respects at 6:00 p.m. There will also be visitation on Thursday, December 31, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place following the visitation at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Thomas officiating. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids at 2:00 p.m. on December 31, 2009 with graveside military rites.

Memorials may be directed to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Burnett.
