Arlyne M. Hollnagel, age 85 of Beaver Dam, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital. Arlyne was born on August 9, 1924 in Fox Lake to Laurence and Addie (nee Meigs) Bolstad. She was a graduate of Fox Lake High School and on January 28, 1945 she was united in marriage to Donald Hollnagel in Fox Lake. Earlier in her life, Arlyne worked at Monarch Range and Weyenburg Shoe Factory and later in her life she and Donald ran the American Legion Bar and Rose Bowl Bar. Arlyne worked most recently at Beaver Dam Care Center in housekeeping. She was a member of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, American Legion Auxiliary and Beaver Dam Women's Bowling Association. Arlyne was a tremendous baker and her chocolate chip cookies were always a favorite to anyone who was lucky enough eat them. Her children loved her "special" pies made individually for each of their birthdays. She loved to travel and on many of her trips she would attend dinner theaters, concerts and especially Danny O'Donnell concerts, which she was a huge fan of. Arlyne was a quiet loving woman who dedicated her life to her family and cherished her friends. Her love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be deeply missed.
Arlyne is survived by her children, Diane (Tom) Rosenmeier of Beaver Dam, Carl Hollnagel of Sun Prairie, Renee (Dennis) Bremer of Stoughton, Sandra (Jack) Saunders of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Jeff (Eithne) Rosenmeier, Sarah (Frank) Ferree, Caroline Hollnagel, Dawn Hollnagel, Valerie Hollnagel, Brandon Hollnagel, Alex Hollnagel, Travis Hollnagel, Stephanie (Erik) Koteles, Andrew Bremer; great grandchildren, Ciara and Aoife Rosenmeier, Owen Ferree, Ian and Max Odell, Alyson Rivers and two sister-in-laws, Emily Winters of Beaver Dam and Bernice Manske of Fox Lake. Arlyne is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald in 1994, son David in 2000; four brothers, Curtis, Wilbur, Arnold and Tom Bolstad and two sisters, Laniece Meinders and Beverly Klapper.
A Funeral Service for Arlyne will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam with Rev. Mark Jensen officiating. Visitation will also be on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Service at 6:00 p.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the funeral at the funeral home. Private family burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the Town of Trenton.
