Armin A. Arms, age 85 of Beaver Dam and formerly of Fountain City, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Armin was born on August 3, 1927 in Eagle Valley to Edward and Elfrieda (nee Ganz) Arms, where he was raised on the family farm. He was confirmed at St. John's United Church of Christ in Fountain City and graduated from Fountain City High School in 1945 with top honors. In 1947, he and two friends accompanied a boatload of 1,500 horses to Poland under the auspices of the United Nations Relief Association. He worked for 24 years with the Corps of Engineers. In 1974, Armin was united in marriage to Doris (nee Lemke) Jacklen in Waterloo, WI.
Armin enjoyed bowling and playing golf. He was active in the Fountain City Area Historical Society and was a curator of the Prairie Moon Museum. After moving to Beaver Dam in 2008, he was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church.
Armin is survived by his wife of 39 years, Doris of Beaver Dam; his step-daughter, Judy (Alan) Lauth of Beaver Dam; his sister, Belva Ruben of Fountain City; his sister-in-law, Lois Pann of Waterloo; and his brothers-in-law, Marvin Campbell of Madison and Larry Korb of Blair. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Virginia and Lois; his brothers, Edson and another who died at birth; and his brother-in-law, Elmer Reuben.
A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm at Cornerstone with Rev. Mark Jensen officiating. A luncheon will be served at Cornerstone immediately following the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery, Waterloo, WI.
