Art was born on January 24, 1930 to Joseph and Agnes (Krzmarzick) Dietz in Sleepy Eye, MN.  Art attended Sleepy Eye Catholic schools and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1948. He then entered the military and served his country in the United States Army from 1948 to 1950. During his time with the Army, Art received several honors, including the distinguished sharp shooter medal of honor for gunmanship excellence. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1950, Art went on to serve the next six years in the Enlisted Reserve Corps. Also in 1950, Art started working for the Del Monte Corporation, where he worked for 43 years, first in Sleepy Eye, MN, then moving to Markesan, WI in 1961, where he helped start up the Del Monte plant and worked there until his retirement in 1992.  Art was very proud of the fact that through hard work and dedication to the company, he rose from Del Monte seasonal employee to Assistant Superintendent of the Markesan plant.  Art married the love of his life, Violet Disque, on November 5, 1960 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, MN and was married for 42 years until her passing in 2002.  Art then married Helen Sina in June, 2005, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Markesan.

Art was a man of deep faith and was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Markesan for 62 years, where he was an usher and served on the parish council for many years.  He served the community as an EMT and was active in several community projects, including delivering food to the needy and the annual Holiday Gifts Anonymous program.  Art also supported several future Priests, helping to fund their education throughout the years.

Art was an avid hunter, golfer, and fan of all sports, especially his beloved Brewers, Packers, and Bucks.  He amazed many when he shot his 52 nd deer at the young age of 88.  Art enjoyed playing golf with his many friends in several different golf leagues throughout the years. Art had many friends, but none more special than his friend of 60 years, Morris Hansen, whom he always referred to as his best friend. Art enjoyed spending time with his family and often stated how very proud he was of his children and grandchildren.  Art's biggest joy was going to his grandchildren's activities, along with going on numerous family trips and to many, many family gatherings. He loved his family more than anything else in life.  Art will be remembered by all for his quiet, yet quick wit, his vast knowledge of the world around him, and his sincere kindness and generosity.

Art is survived by his wife Helen Dietz of Markesan, daughters, Renae (Gale) Grahn of Plymouth, WI, Michele (Dan) Metz of De Pere, WI, and Susan (Matt) Dollins of Pewaukee, WI; and son, Tom (Kay) Dietz of Eagan, MN; grandchildren, Lindsey (Taylor) Rafool, Danielle Grahn, Alexander (Elle) Grahn, Jason (Blake) Dietz, Justin Dietz, Victoria Metz, Nicholas Metz, and Madysen Dollins, and great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Riley, Cooper, Colton, Harrison, and Hudson.

Art was preceded in death by his wife Violet, son Jimmy; parents Joseph and Agnes Dietz; baby sister, Mary; sister Agnes and four brothers, Ray, Edward, Leonard, and Joseph.

Eternal rest grant unto Art, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.  May he rest in peace. Amen.
