Obituary
Barbara Schkirke, age 71 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully from gall bladder cancer on Monday, November 29, 2010 at her home.
Barbara was born in Beaver Dam on December 2, 1938 to Albert and Angeline (nee Immerfall) Benike. She was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. On April 18, 1959, she was united in marriage to Robert Schkirke at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. They were blessed with six children. Barbara worked as a secretary and dispatcher for Edmunds Bus Service. She loved camping, going on walks and sewing. She was an avid Brewers and Packers fan. Barbara was a member of Annunciation Catholic Parish in Fox Lake.
Barbara will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 51 years, Robert "Bob" Schkirke of Beaver Dam; four children, Christine Nelson of Cottage Grove, Deborah (Matt) Finn of Oconomowoc, Mary Beth (Paul) Klavekoske of Watertown, and Jeffery Schkirke of Madison; eight grandchildren, Christian, Christal and Elizabeth Nelson, Lindsay, Michael and Megan Finn, and Patrick and Mitchell Klavekoske; four brothers, Gordon Benike of Beaver Dam, David (Cheryl) Benike of Beaver Dam, Larry (Mary Ellen) Benike of Madison and John (Peg) Benike of Beaver Dam; two sisters, Carol Gosse of Beaver Dam and Linda (Jim) Burton of the Netherlands. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Todd in 1992 and Andy in 2002.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara will be held on on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Parish, 305 W. Green Street, Fox Lake with Father Mike Wild officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the Mass at the church, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the Mass at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Beaver Dam. Following the burial, a luncheon will be held at Cornerstone Funeral Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam.
Memorials may be directed to Annunciation Catholic Parish, 305 W. Green St., Fox Lake, WI 53933 or Hillside Hospice, 711 S. University Ave., Beaver Dam, WI 53916.
