Betty Jean Kahl, age 85 of Markesan, passed away at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.

Visitation for Betty will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Terrace Shores Ev. Free Church, W3278 Cty Rd K., Markesan, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Zacharias officiating. Burial will take place at Weiser Cemetery in Princeton.

Betty was born on January 14, 1938, the daughter of Frank and Beryl (Gloyd) Cerney. She was a graduate of Ripon High School. On September 5, 1959, she was united in marriage to her husband, Harvey Kahl. She became a loving mother to 4 boys and 2 girls. She worked at Parkview Nursing Home in Ripon as an LPN for 47 years; she was the first LPN on the floor for second shift in 1964. Betty was a member of the Abendroth-Connolly American Legion Auxiliary Unit 282. She loved to read and work on jigsaw and crossword puzzles while watching Doris Day movies, Hogans Heroes, and Perry Mason. She also enjoyed taking trips up north to Eagle River with family, and playing games with family and friends.

Betty is survived by her sons, Timothy (Hyo Yo) Kahl, Roy (fiancée, Paula Murphy) Kahl, Bruce (Sarah) Kahl and John (Kristine) Kahl; two daughters, Judy (Randall) Schulz and Mary Kahl; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ella Mae Dobbratz and Louise Cerney; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey in 2011; brothers, Willard, Richard, and Donald Cerney; and other relatives.

Visitation for Betty will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Terrace Shores Ev. Free Church, W3278 Cty Rd K., Markesan, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Zacharias officiating. Burial will take place at Weiser Cemetery, town of Princeton.
