Beverly Scallon

Beverly Jane Perry Scallon passed away on December 21, 2025 at the age of 96.

She was born in Nashotah, Wisconsin on March 10, 1929, the daughter of Lucian Eli Perry and Estella Kathyn Bruessel Perry. Beverly graduated from Waupun High School and went on to the Harper Method Beauty School in Madison. After graduating, she worked in a salon in Milwaukee, before she decided to come back to work in a salon in Waupun. She was united in marriage to Leo Francis Scallon in 1948. Together they built a small house on Grace St. in Waupun.

In October 1956, the family bought a farm and moved to the country on Mielke Rd. Markesan, in the Town of Alto. After a few years, they started “Pheasant City Shooting Preserve." In addition to hunting and raising pheasants, and Mallard ducks, they also bred and trained hunting dogs. Eventually, the named was changed to “Pheasant City Hunt Club.” Later on, sporting clays were offered.

Family was the most important thing to Beverly; she was always available to babysit and even cat sit on occasion. Cooking, crafting of all kinds and collecting quilts were favorite pastimes. She also put her passport to use traveling to Ireland, twice to France, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands. She hosted bus trips to Casinos and was always ready for any trip.

Her older sister, Evelyn Perry Lemmenes, and younger brother, Eugene (Bud) Perry, preceded her in death. She is survived by her younger sister, June Perry Pearcy, of Indianapolis, Indiana.

There were eight children in the family. Her sons, Joseph John Scallon, William Leo Scallon, Daniel Perry Scallon and Thomas Michael Scallon preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughters, Jane Scallon Rains, Laura Scallon Zirbel, Linda Scallon and son, James Joseph Scallon.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Beverly’s Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Werner Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun. A service will be held at 2pm and a gathering will follow from 2:30 - 6pm.
