Bob was a loving husband, father and grandpa. He was born in Beaver Dam, WI on June 13th, 1953 as the son of Eli and Winnie Posthuma. He was a 1972 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Then in 1974, he married his sweetheart, Janet Wallintin, who became his wife of 50 years. Bob worked as a prison guard as a young man and then later transitioned to working at National Rivet Manufacturing Company where he was employed for over 20 years. During that time, he also worked at his true passion of hobby farming. He enjoyed many years of raising and caring for his many friends in the barn.
Bobby was a devoted Christian and rarely missed church on Sunday. He was involved in many Bible study groups and church activities throughout his life. He served as a great example to his children by always showing kindness to everyone. He always kept a shovel near the front door of his home during the Wintertime should a complete stranger slide off the road and need to be dug out of the snow.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, including his wife, brothers and sister, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed Janet's cooking, especially her desserts, and for many years helped her deliver wedding cakes on Saturday mornings. He enjoyed celebrating the holidays, especially Christmas, and watching fireworks on the Fourth of July. He spent time deer hunting, chasing steers outside of their pens, riding his motorcycle and lawn mower, and watching the Green Bay Packers, Gunsmoke, and Billy Graham on TV. During the Summers, he enjoyed taking his family on camping trips, visiting the Dells and going to parades, county fairs and amusement parks.
During special times, he loved adventuring out on road trips to neighboring towns and faraway states in his Buick and later in the family Astro van. Daily, however, he would find quiet joy (and occasionally sometimes even a little adventure) in driving in his truck with a can of Diet Coke nearby.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Janet Posthuma; children, Jason, Jesika (Damon) Weigel, and Jolene (Erik) Oehlke; grandchildren, Makaela, Jadon, Coralyn, Brighton, Maeve and Quinn; his brothers Elton, Jeff, Jerry, Duke and Kevin Posthuma; and is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Diane, Elaine, and Gladys and angel grandbabies.
Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services in Beaver Dam is honored to be serving the family.
