Obituary

Bonita "Bonnie" Rose Ostrander, age 89 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024, at home.

Visitation for Bonnie will take place on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Harmony Baptist Church, N8954 County Rd W, Beaver Dam from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Peter Ostrander officiating. Burial will take place at Fall River Cemetery in Fall River.

Bonnie was born in Milwaukee on April 3, 1935, the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Compton) Christiansen. She was a graduate and valedictorian of Almond High School before attending UW-Stevens Point. When she was a teenager Bonnie attended Camp Tamarack in Waupaca, WI. It was there she came to understand her need of a Savior and placed her faith in Jesus Christ to save her from her sins and prepare a place for her in Heaven.

On December 4, 1954, she was united in marriage to Otis Eugene Ostrander in Plainfield, WI. Bonnie worked many different jobs throughout her life including Kromer Cap, Wisconsin Cheeseman and Maranatha Baptist University. She also loved helping Otis with roofing, painting and mowing lawn. However, she spent the majority of her time as a homemaker. Bonnie was very proud of her grandfather, Christian Christiansen, and enjoyed telling the story of his heroic actions in World War II giving vital information to the Allies to locate a heavy water plant in Norway. In her free time Bonnie could be found baking bread, crafting, sewing, camping, and playing board games. She was a faithful servant and charter member of Harmony Baptist Church. Above all, Bonnie especially loved being a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Otis Ostrander; children, Vicki (Greg) Bare, Penny Ostrander, Mark Ostrander, Todd (Barb) Ostrander, and Peter (Laura) Ostrander; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Laura Welch; and further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughters, Kiana Ostrander and Christine Ostrander; sisters, Marion Topping and Karen Thorson; brother, Walter Christiansen; and other relatives.
