Bruce M. Zielinski, age 72 of Marquette, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
A Memorial Gathering for Bruce will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan from 4 - 6 p.m. A Memorial Gathering will also be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 266 Sherman Ave., Marquette from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Plagenz officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona.
Bruce was born on November 28, 1944 in Milwaukee, the son of Alphonse and Louise (Nowicki) Zielinski. He graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1962 and earned a bachelor's degree from Madison Business College. On April 24, 1965, he was united in marriage to Judy Ashley at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She preceded him in death in 2008. On October 9, 2010, he married Sandra Wiersma at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marquette. Bruce worked as a transportation manager at Oscar Mayer in Madison. After retiring, he enjoyed working part-time for the State of Wisconsin DNR and Jung's in Randolph. He always played an active role in his kids' lives. He loved coaching and attending their sporting events, taking them camping and on family vacations. He was active for many years in the Jaycees and was also a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Bruce was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marquette and enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Sandra Wiersma of Marquette; his sons, Scott (Sarah) Zielinski of Roseville, MN and Matthew (Kimberly) Zielinski of Platteville; step-children, Tonya Gubin (fiancé Dan Olson) of Cottage Grove, Aaron (Jennifer) Habeck of Fond du Lac and Craig (Jessica) Habeck of Fond du Lac; grandchildren, Dayton, Kai, William and Asher; step-grandchildren, Matthew, Heather (Jon), Jonah, Colin, Noah and Joshua; step-great-grandchildren, Hailey, Evan and Emma; brother, James (Mary Jane) Zielinski of Somerset, NJ; sister, Mary Ellen (Bruce) Saniter of Lyndon Station; 4 nephews; 1 niece; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Judy; niece, Lisa and other relatives.
