Carl H. Wojahn, 91, of Waupun, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at his home.



Carl was born June 27, 1920 in Oshkosh, the son of Henry and Mary Pirner Wojahn. Carl attended Oshkosh schools, graduating from Oshkosh High School in 1939. He attended Racine Technical School for two years where he met "the prettiest girl on the dance floor," Marilyn Weissert, who he married on Dec. 21, 1940 in Oshkosh. Carl served his country with the Army National Guard. He then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II at which time they enrolled him at Wilbur Wright College in Chicago, Ill. Carl worked for Wisconsin Axle in Oshkosh for three years as a foreman. In 1948, he and his wife, Marilyn, co-founded W&W Electric Motors of Oshkosh. In 1956, they moved to Waupun and formed W.W. Electric Motors of Waupun. The company continued to grow and currently has sales and service shops in Waupun, Oshkosh, and Fond du Lac. The company today is staffed with two of Carl's sons, two grandsons, and a great-grandson. Carl retired in 1982, but remained seasonally active for a number of years afterward. He and Marilyn have spent many winters in the south and have enjoyed many trips together. They have been long-time members of Union-Congregational Church in Waupun. Carl was a life member of the American Legion where he was instrumental in bringing American Legion Baseball to Waupun in 1957. He was a past President of Electrical Apparatus Service Association, and a long time member of Rock River Country Club in Waupun where he served on the board of directors.

Carl is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marilyn E. Wojahn of Waupun; seven children, Ted (Marilyn) Wojahn of Oshkosh, Terry (Eve) Wojahn of Oshkosh, Dennis (Karen) Wojahn of Green Bay, Carlene (Jim Smith) Wojahn of Waupun, Bill (Sue) Wojahn of Waupun, Keith (Carla) Wojahn of Waupun, Tom (Lisa) Wojahn of The Woodlands, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Candace Wojahn and Rebecca Oehler; a daughter-in-law, Kitty Wojahn; seven sisters; and five brothers.

Services:
Memorial services for Carl Wojahn will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at noon at Union-Congregational Church in Waupun with the Rev. Mark Arbisi officiating. Burial will follow at the Waupun Norwegian Lutheran Church Cemetery on Church Road in the town of Waupun where American Legion Post 210 of Waupun will perform military honors. Friends and relatives of Carl Wojahn may call on the family on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
