Casey "KC" J. Hartwig, age 17, of Beaver Dam, died as a result of an automobile accident on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at U.W. Children's Hospital in Madison with his friends and family at his side.

Casey was born on August 25, 1990 in Beaver Dam to Kevin and Susan (nee Gallenbeck) Hartwig Sr. He graduated from Beaver Dam Charter School in 2008 and was a lifelong member of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church. Casey enjoyed spending time outdoors, including fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, rollerblading and spending time with his dogs. He also liked going bowling, cruising around Beaver Dam and meeting his mom for lunch every Thursday at Ming's Garden. His friends and family were very important to him, and he especially looked forward to spending time with his favorite nephew, Aydan. He was a loving son and brother.

Casey is survived by his parents, Kevin and Susan Hartwig Sr. of Beaver Dam; his sister Amy (Ben Bartsch) Hartwig of Beaver Dam; his brothers Kevin Jr. of Beaver Dam, Shawn (KristyLee) of Horicon, and Ryan of Beaver Dam; his nephews, Chance, Jordan and Aydan Hartwig of Beaver Dam; his maternal grandparents Harold (Betty) Gallenbeck of Beaver Dam; his aunt, Sherry Bock Gallenbeck of Beaver Dam; his uncles, Lynn (Gloria) Hartwig of Beaver Dam, Jerry (Bev) Hartwig of Mayville, Randy (Dawn) Hartwig of Mayville, Lonnie Hartwig of Mayville, and Jason Lueck of Fox Lake; and his special friend, Sam Perham of Beaver Dam. He is further survived by cousins, other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alfons and Dorothy Hartwig Sr., his uncles Alfons Hartwig Jr. and Dennis Hartwig, and his aunts Katherine Hartwig and Debbie Gallenbeck.

A Funeral Service for Casey will take place on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, 1310 N. Center Street, Beaver Dam, with Rev. Kurtis Mau officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at church.
