Obituary

Casimir "Casey" P. Sliwa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital in Beaver Dam, WI. He was born on December 10, 1943 in Germany to Walter and Maria Sliwa. He was united in marriage to Sue Luther on September 4, 1987 in Adams Friendship, WI.

Casey retired from the National Elevators Industries in 2003 and then he and his wife, Sue moved to Wheaton, IL to care for their grandchildren. Never one to sit still, he went to work for Pleasant Lane Schools in Lombard, IL and later, Addison Public Library in Addison, IL. They moved back to Wisconsin in 2011 and settled in Randolph in 2013, where they resided at the time of his death. He worked at Downtown Rogers in Beaver Dam until the time of his illness.

Casey was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time at Castle Rock Lake with his family and attending the sports activities of his kids and grandkids. He touched the lives of many young people; coaching and mentoring them while living in the western suburbs of Chicago. He will always be remembered for his kind and compassionate ways, as well as his contagious smile and laughter. Casey will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Casey is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Sliwa; children, James Sliwa (Melanie); Michael Sliwa (Sharon); Cassandra Sliwa (Will) and step-daughter, Kimberly Rogge (Dewey). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alison Sliwa, Connor Sliwa, Jenna Sliwa, Taylor Rogge (Edward Gerke), Alexander Fite; great-grandson, Owen Gerke and mother of his children, Loretta. Also surviving are his brothers, Joseph Sliwa (Betty), Adam Sliwa (Krystyna); brother-in-law, Jake Harris (Pam); sisters-in-law, Jewel Moore (Daniel) and Marilyn Myhre (Charles); nieces and nephews, Jasia Johnson (Steve), Irene Bieg (John), Stash Maligranda (Marian), Kenny Sliwa (Sonja), Kathy Reich (Gary), Ann Benson, Robert Sliwa, Mandi Moore, Ryan Moore (Stacey), Tyler Moore (Heather) and Ashley Myhre. Casey is also survived by four amazing foster children, Rich, Robin, Michael and Kevin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Zofia Maligranda and Stella Dzibuda; brothers-in-law, Teofil Maligranda and Stefan Dzibuda; nephew, Daniel Sliwa; and step-son, Troy Luther.

A memorial gathering for Casey will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12:30 p.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at Cornerstone.
