Catherine Jansma, 88, of Waupun, went to her heavenly home on Friday, August 29, 2025 with family by her side.
Catherine was born December 5, 1936 in Fond du Lac County near Brandon, the daughter of Ko and Dorothy Respalje Homan. On December 11, 1953 she married Charley Jansma at Alto Christian Reformed Church. Following their marriage, the couple resided in the Waupun area for many years. While residing in Waupun, Catherine was an active member of First Reformed Church where she taught Sunday School and was a Vacation Bible School instructor. In 1993 they moved to Princeton until 2015 at which time they returned to Waupun. Catherine was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Princeton where she was involved in LWML. Charley and Catherine spent their winter months in Winter Haven, Florida for 10 years.
Catherine is survived by her children: Rosalie (Jerald) Riel of Waupun, Diane (David) Riel of Ripon, Sharon (Richard) Oosterhouse of Markesan, Thomas (Patty) Jansma of Alma, WI, Sue (Ronald) Reichhoff of Waupun, and Fay (Michael) Ploeger of Edgerton; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ken (Elaine) Homan; sisters-in-law: Pat and Carolyn Homan; brothers-in-law: Norm (Shirley) Jansma and Wilbert (Carol) Jansma; special friend, Kris Hart; and several nieces and nephews.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Jansma; her parents; brothers: Richard Homan, Edwin (Flora) Homan, and Harry Homan; her sister, Angeline (Bernie) Beek; an infant sister; and brothers-in-law: Louis (Gladys) Jansma and Garret (Marcia) Jansma.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Waupun. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
