Obituary

Charlene (Charlie) Coraggio nee Barkan, born in Milwaukee on October 21, 1944, the daughter of Harriet and Leonard Barkan, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at age 76 from complications after surgery from her battle with cancer.

Charlie was an amazing, kind person that anyone around her knew. Her generosity was beyond belief as she was always wanting to help someone by often giving away more than she had. Throughout her life she was always self-employed managing bars and bar/restaurants. She was the first woman to manage the Eagles Club in Milwaukee. Charlie managed a national bowling club, a thrift store and resale shop. Charlie was very proud to show off her creations as a graphic designer of several pull tab tickets. She was always looking for the next thing to occupy her time, from fishing, bowling and disco dancing in her earlier years to gardening and playing cards every Monday night with a group of lifelong wonderful friends that were dear to her in her golden years.

She is survived by her loving and adoring family son, Darin (Tammy) Coraggio of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Justin Coraggio of Neosho, Joshua (Katie) Coraggio of Beaver Dam, Jessie Coraggio of Beaver Dam, and Katherine Coraggio of Cottage Grove; great-grandsons, Levi Daniel and Henry Dean Coraggio; loving brother and friend, Lowell Barkan; her adoring nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Preceded in her death were her two loving sons, Dean "Dino" and Daniel "Danny" Coraggio, both of whom were taken too early from us in a tragic auto accident and were sorely missed by Charlene. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Harriet and father, Leonard Barkan; brother, Fred; and sister, Sheila Barkan.

She had many special friends from card club members to business acquaintances.

She will be sorely missed by all.

A Celebration of Life for Charlie will be held at a future date with immediate family and friends to honor her wishes.

Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam is honored to be serving the family.
