Charles Hale Graham, age 91 of Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam. Charles was born on July 28, 1918 in Grayson County, Virginia to Charles Polk and Olive (nee Delp) Graham. After graduating from high school, Charles honorably served his country in the United States Air Force and had a military career of 28 years. During his service to his country during World War II, he was a P.O.W. in Japan for 3 ½ years. Following his military career, he owned a hotel in Sterling, Virginia and later retired to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas before coming to Beaver Dam. On October 26, 1991 he was united in marriage to Shirley Marshall in Rogers, Arkansas. Charles was a lifelong member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Lions Club, Rotary Club and American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor.
Charles is survived by his wife, Shirley of Beaver Dam; four children, John (Judy) Graham of Virginia, Elizabeth Graham of North Carolina, Robert Graham of Pennsylvania, Charlotte Graham of North Carolina, 3 step-children; Jackie (John) Vujnovich of Beaver Dam, John (Sherie) Marshall of Ohio and Mark Marshall of Florida. He is further survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, other relatives and friends.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Patricia and other relatives.
A Memorial Service for Charles will take place at a later date in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
