Upon graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army for 3 years, and served 2 years in Korea before being honorably discharged in 1962. Chuck continued to work in Chicago and traveled to Waupun each weekend for three years before becoming employed as the office manager at the Wisconsin Humane Society in Milwaukee. In 1986 he became the manager of the Jefferson County Humane Society and in 1991 joined the City of Waupun as its Economic Development Coordinator. Chuck’s life philosophy was formed at a young age and he always believed in the adage “one should aspire to inspire before one expires.” Chuck retired in 2002 but continued working part-time as a funeral coach driver for several area funeral homes and on three separate occasions served as the City Administrator of Fox Lake, WI. Chuck was a civic and community-minded person and served on several Board of Directors including Waupun Memorial Hospital, Marsh Haven Nature Center, CESA #6 in Oshkosh, Marine Credit Union, and Winnebago Lutheran Academy of Fond du Lac.
