Chuck was born April 5, 1941 in Chicago Heights, IL, the son of Carl and Elfrieda (nee Neitzel) Schranz. Chuck grew up attending Lutheran Elementary School and worked in the family bakery. In 1955 he enrolled in Crete-Monee High School in Crete, IL and graduated in 1959. Upon graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army for 3 years, and served 2 years in Korea before being honorably discharged in 1962. Thereupon, Chuck matriculated at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL, receiving his bachelors and masters degree in accounting in 1968. Chuck immediately commenced his employment as an auditor for a large international public accounting firm in Chicago.

In 1970 Chuck met the love of his life, Robbi (nee Jacobs) through a mutual friend. They were soon married and the family was blessed with three children. In 1983 the family moved to Waupun. Chuck continued to work in Chicago and traveled to Waupun each weekend for three years before becoming employed as the office manager at the Wisconsin Humane Society in Milwaukee. In 1986 he became the manager of the Jefferson County Humane Society and in 1991 joined the City of Waupun as its Economic Development Coordinator. Chuck’s life philosophy was formed at a young age and he always believed in the adage “one should aspire to inspire before one expires.” Chuck retired in 2002 but continued working part-time as a funeral coach driver for several area funeral homes and on three separate occasions served as the City Administrator of Fox Lake, WI. Chuck was a civic and community-minded person and served on several Board of Directors including Waupun Memorial Hospital, Marsh Haven Nature Center, CESA #6 in Oshkosh, Marine Credit Union, and Winnebago Lutheran Academy of Fond du Lac. Chuck served 9 years on the Waupun Area School District Board of Education. He was a long-standing member of the Trenton Town Board of Supervisors. Chuck was a member of the Waupun Lions Club, American Legion Post 210, and VFW Post 6709. Chuck and Robbi are members of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and he served in several officer positions. Chuck has always had an interest in animals and has maintained a menagerie of domestic animals for several years on the home farm.

Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Robbi; 2 sons, Carl (Veronica) and Mark Schranz and daughter, Sarah (Kevin) Kleinmann.
