Chester "Chet" Vande Berg

Chester “Chet” Vande Berg, 77, of Waupun, died Wednesday evening, June 12, 2013 at his home.




Chet was born November 11, 1935 in rural Brandon, in Fond du Lac County, the son of John and Bessie Vanden Berg Vande Berg. Chet served with the U.S. Army for three years. On September 16, 1959 he was united in marriage to Ruth Stelsel. The couple farmed in the Alto area for 20 years and also did carpentry work for 20 years. Chet retired and moved to Waupun in 2009. He was a member of Alto Reformed Church in Alto where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed fishing and watching his grandchildren play ball.

Chet is survived by his wife, Ruth Vande Berg of Waupun; two daughters, Terri Vande Berg of Dallas, TX and Jill (Scott) Van De List of rural Waupun; three grandchildren, Adrea (Nate) Daane of Waupun, Rene Van De List of Oshkosh, and Kurt Van De List of Dubuque, IA; a great-granddaughter, Madelynn Daane; a great-grandson, Porter Daane; two brothers, Wallace “Art” (Arlene) Vande Berg of Brandon, Preston “Pat” Vande Berg of Waupun; sisters-in-law, Marcella Vande Berg of Brandon, Donna Vande Berg of Markesan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Junior and Delores “Lolly” Stelsel of Waupun and Ardell Stelsel of Waupun; and several nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

Chet was preceded in death by five brothers, Bernard, Alvin, Edward, Donald, and Raymond Vande Berg; a sister, Henrietta Van Ruiswyk; sisters-in-law, Muriel, JoAnn, Joyce, and Carol Vande Berg; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Van Ruiswyk and Milan Stelsel.

Friends and relatives of Chet Vande Berg may call on the family on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.



Services:


Funeral services for Chet Vande Berg will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Alto Reformed Church in the town of Alto with Rev. Ted Medema and Rev. Ted Lindman officiating.



Burial:


Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery in Alto.
