Clare E. Hilt

Clare E. Hilt, age 85, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025 at the Christian Home in Waupun where she resided.

Clare was born November 14, 1939, the daughter of Roman and Leona Schneider Pethan of Charlesburg, WI. On November 26, 1960 she married Greg Hilt of Pipe, WI.

Clare is survived by three children: Tim (Julie) Hilt of Waupun, Catherine Hilt of Fond du Lac, and Dennis Hilt of Waupun; five grandchildren: Greg (Shyann) Hinkel of Appleton, Molly Hilt of Waupun, Jenna Hilt and fiance Dr. Teddy Zamzow of Wausau, Emily (Brandon) Soto of New Mexico, and Christian Hilt of Waupun; two great-grandchildren: Lilly and Carter Hinkel of Appleton; two step-great-grandchildren: Zander and Jackson of Appleton; two brothers and two sisters: Andrew (Valeria) Pethan of Chilton, George (Joanne) Pethan of Chilton, Arlene Kraus of Sheboygan, and Marion Olson of Chilton; brother-in-law, Robert (Bonnie) Hilt of North Fond du Lac; sister-in-law, Barbra O’Brien of Eden; and many nieces and nephews.

Clare was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; husband, Greg; a brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Eileen Pethan; brothers-in-law: Donny Kraus, Tom O’Brien, and Tom Hilt; nieces: Clara Pethan, Laura Pethan, and Mrs. Mike (Tammy) Pethan; and nephew, Terry O’Brien.

At Clare’s request there will be no funeral or memorial. If anyone wishes to make a donation they can do so to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waupun or a charity of their choice.

Cremation and burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Waupun.

The family would like to thank Woodland’s Assisted Living Center for the care given to Clare for seven years of fun and friendship. They would also like to thank the Christian Home in Waupun for their care at the end.
