Corneliske “Connie” De Vries

Corneliske “Connie” De Vries, 81, of Waupun, died three days after her husband at her home in Waupun with all of her family by her side.



Connie was born on February 18, 1931 in the Netherlands, the daughter of the late John and Tena Elgersma Wierenga. As a young girl Connie came to the U.S. and settled there where she married Thys “Ted” De Vries on September 29, 1949. The couple lived in the Waupun/Brandon area all their married lives. Connie worked tirelessly as she furthered her education in the U.S. and received her teaching degree and then taught school for several years in the Friesland school system. Connie was a constant companion and helper along with her husband at their poultry business in Alto. In 1992 they retired and moved to the city of Waupun. She was a member of Alto Reformed Church in Alto, and its Golden Lifers as well as a former volunteer with the prison ministry program. She was an avid gardener and loved to be home with her family crocheting many treasures for all of them.

Connie is survived by two sons, William “Bill” De Vries of Marinette and John (Jan) De Vries of Waupun; grandchildren, Tyson (Angie) De Vries, Chelsea De Vries, Jodi De Vries, Kelley (Greg) VanBuren, Kurt (Becky) De Vries, Kyle (Annie) De Vries, Krystle Arriens, and Kody De Vries; great-grandchildren, William “Will”, Shéree, Paige, Chase, Gage, Alexzander, Carter, Kyan, Vaeya, and Chaz; brothers; Jim (Marlene) Wierenga, Louie (Nancey) Wierenga, Walter (Linda) Wierenga, and a sister-in-law, Betty Wierenga.

Connie was preceded in death by a brother, Pete Wierenga, and a sister-in-law, Mildred Wierenga.


Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Tuesday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and on Wednesday at church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Services:
Funeral services for Connie De Vries will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Alto Reformed Church in Alto with Rev. Ted Lindman and Rev. Ted Medema officiating.

Burial:
Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery.
