Daniel Gitzel

December 21, 1957 — November 26, 2022

Waupun, WI

Daniel J Gitzel, 64, of Waupun, went home to Jesus on Saturday, November 26, 2022.  Dan was born December 21, 1957 in Waupun to Daniel H. Gitzel and Barbara (Myers) Gitzel.  Dan attended Waupun High School and worked at Waupun Burger, where he met his highschool sweetheart, Linda.  They graduated in 1976 and later married on July 16, 1977.  They resided in Waupun most of their married life where they raised their daughter and two sons. Dan graduated from Moraine Park in 2006 with his daughter. He received a supervisor management degree.

Dan worked hard doing many things including press operator, newspaper circulation manager, and bus driver.  He would also be in many managerial positions in manufacturing and foundries.  He donated a lot of time serving on the board for his church and Thrivent Financial. Dan was a Royal Rangers leader and led worship team and men’s group at Crossroads Fellowship Church (Assembly of God) where he attended.  Many people knew Dan for his kind and gentle heart and would often find him sharing the word of God by handing out “Footprints in the Sand” pocket stones and his favorite verse “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) Dan loved spending time surrounded with family and friends and was often found outdoors enjoying many hobbies including traveling, hunting, fishing, golfing, and camping. You could also find him cheering on and coaching his children and grandchildren at many sporting events.  He taught his family many craft trades including his Pine Woods Derby building skills where he created winning cars every year.

Dan is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda (Moldenhauer) Gitzel; children: Jessica (Travis) Schultz, Travis (Mercedes) Gitzel, and Tyler (Rachel) Gitzel; grandchildren: Tanner, Landon, Ryden and Grayson Schultz, Alexis (Tanner) Beaudry, Mercedes Gitzel, and Leah Kissinger, and Elias, Kaidan and Liara Gitzel; great-granddaughter, Maisyn Beaudry; siblings: Marjorie (Leslie) Zielicke, Phyllis Riel, Barbara (Jim) Schultz, Mark (Paula) Gitzel, Christopher (Taylor) Gitzel, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Irvin and Marilyn (Pat) Moldenhauer; and brother-in-law Steve Riel.
