David Earl Baker, age 86 of Markesan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.
A Funeral Service for David will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St. in Markesan. Burial will follow at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 5 -7 p.m. at Cornerstone and also on Wednesday at Cornerstone from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Service at 11:00 a.m.
David was born on May 16, 1929 in Markesan to Philip and Amanda (Link) Baker. He was baptized into the Lutheran Church and attended Markesan schools. On March 20, 1954 he was united in marriage to Margaret McRobert at Markesan United Methodist Church. David worked for the City of Markesan off and on in his earlier years. He later drove truck for Abendroth Trucking and also farmed his whole life on the farm known as Baker's Hill. David enjoyed socializing, hunting, fishing, antique convertibles and antique tractors as well as watching Markesan High School boys and girls basketball games. He had a deep love for his grandchildren and will be deeply missed.
David is survived by his children; Scott (fiancée Lori Krueger) Baker and Jodi (Joel) Plagenz, both of Markesan; 3 grandchildren, Bryon Baker, Taylor Plagenz, Ty Plagenz and a great granddaughter Kaylynn Baker. He is further survived by his sister, Ardelle (Orv) Swanson of Markesan as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Margaret in 2010, a grandson Cody Baker in 2011 and a brother Bert in infancy.
