David (Dave) Goodlaxson, 88, of rural Waupun, died peacefully at home on Friday, September 1st, surrounded by family.

Born July 24th, 1929 to Harold and Sadie Goodlaxson, he was a lifelong participant in the communities on the north end of the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge.

Dave graduated from Waupun High School and attended Lakeland College before serving in the US Army. He married Joann Marquart in 1957 and returned to the family farm established in 1846 - currently in its 5th generation of operation. Over the years he was a bowler and hunter, led Fond du Lac County 4-H tractor safety, was a member of Rising Sun, Fond du Lac Pomona and Wisconsin State Granges, was an active member of the Oakfield United Methodist Church, went on many mission trips, was a member of the Friends of the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge and supported the Waupun Norwegian Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his spouse Joann, of 60 years, children and partners - Joel, Donna (Bob Brose), Deanne (Joe Kinney), John (Paula Ferland), and grandchildren – Devan Vossekuil (Taylor Nehls), Sadie Goodlaxson (Jace Humphery), Noah Harrington (Madeline Andrew), Dedra (Lukas) Buteyn, Miles Bruns, Alice Goodlaxson (Diego Marin), Jake Goodlaxson and Peter Goodlaxson, and grandnephew/guardianee Dale Seager. He is preceded in death by parents, Harold and Sadie (Zimmerman) Goodlaxson.



Family and friends are invited to gather beforehand at 1:00pm.


A Celebration of Life is set for Monday, September 4th at Oakfield United Methodist Church at 3:00pm with Rev. Dr. Young Tae Lee officiating. Fellowship will follow the service.



Interment at Waupun Norwegian Lutheran Church cemetery is yet to be determined.
