On Monday, April 24, 2023, David Joseph Siedschlag Sr., loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 82.
Services for David will be held on Saturday April 29, 2023 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 AM with Funeral Service at 11:00. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Fox Lake, Wisconsin following the service. Luncheon will be served at the funeral home after the graveside service.
David was born on June 8 th , 1940, in Ripon, Wis. to Carl Ludwig Siedschlag and Esther Alvina-Minna 'nee Luttenberger. He was baptized at home by Rev. Staehling and confirmed at County Line Lutheran Church in Markesan.
David worked as a dairy farmer in the Ripon and Markesan areas for several years. I n 1976 he began working for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and worked at several locations throughout his remarkable career. He worked his way up through the ranks until being promoted to Superintendent at Gordon Correctional Center in 2001. He then retired in 2003.
David was married to Jean Martin in 1960 and had two daughters and three sons. Later in life he married Jennifer Anderson on June 10, 1989.
David & Jennifer moved to Spooner, Wis. in 1990 where they built their own cabin with family and friends. They referred to the 90-acre property as their own personal "On Golden Pond" where they enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, gardening, and raising animals together. David especially loved spending time working in the garage on cars and other projects. He also enjoyed reading old western books written by Louis L 'Amour while watching the wildlife cross by the window of his home.
David loved his large family and is survived by his wife Jennifer Kay Siedschlag; children Connie (Tim) Alderden, Cheryl (Rex) Ramage, David (Jode) Siedschlag Jr, Scott (Theresa) Siedschlag, Brett (Jackie) Siedschlag, and Tessa Rake; 20 Grandchildren; and 22 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lorraine (Maurice) Kimble and Carl (Helen) Siedschlag.
