David J. Wedel, 59, of Monticello and formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2015 at Monroe Clinic Hospital.
He was born on November 9, 1955 in Beaver Dam to John F. and Rosemary (Hepp) Wedel.
David was the epitome of a hard-working man. After 37 years working in the printing industry in Illinois, David had recently begun to realize his lifelong dream. In 2014, he started his own business, the Handyman Connection, and was in the process of purchasing a lake home in Minocqua, WI.
He had an outgoing personality and a goofy sense of humor that filled rooms with smiles and laughter. In his later years he especially took delight in the time he spent with children; he loved to be silly and make them laugh. David loved spending time in the outdoors, fishing and hunting, watching the Green Bay Packers, fixing anything and everything, and most importantly spending time with his family and friends.
David was the proud father of Rebecca (Gabriel), of New York, NY, and Jason, of Bellvue, CO, as well as the adoring grandfather of Anya and a granddoggy named Drake. David is also survived by his father John F. Wedel, of Beaver Dam and his siblings, Donald (Patrice) Wedel of Beaver Dam, Christine (Charles) Fisher of Constantine, MI, and John J. (Christine) Wedel of Baraboo. He is further survived by uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who brought him much joy. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Rosemary.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Cornerstone Funeral and Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. A Memorial Gathering will be held prior to the Service at Cornerstone, starting at 10:00 a.m.
David would want his family and friends to remember and celebrate his life rather than mourn his death. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome contributions to be made in David's name to the ALS Association.
