A memorial gathering for Dave will take place on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:30 p.m.
"Dave" was born on October 25, 1947 to Glenn Norenberg and Viola Lange Porter. A 1966 graduate of Fall River High School, Dave married the love of his life Sherri Exley on December 9, 1967. Dave would be sure to tell you he married "the most beautiful woman in the world."
Dave was a girl dad through and through; often saying the boys would come later. Dave and Sherri had three daughters; Melody (Michael) Broberg, Stacey (fiancé Matthew Glowacki) Rhea, and Tracey (Richard) Hackbarth. He was very proud of his daughters, even though he would tell you one of them was bossy. Believing that family comes first, he would be sure to tell everyone about his grandchildren; Derek Schade, AnnaMay Broberg, Samuel Broberg, Justin Rhea, Joshua (Brennan) Rhea, Jennifer (fiancé Parker Lindner) Rhea, Abigail (James) Champeau, Thomas Hackbarth, Samuel (Katherine) Hackbarth and John Hackbarth. He was blessed with great grandchildren; Madalyn, Jamison, and Walker Champeau, Oscar Hackbarth and was looking forward to a new "great" our little "Rhea" of sunshine due in March.
Dave spent his life working in the grocery business, working his way up from a bagger to a grocery store manager and ending as a store reset specialist in many different stores. His strong work ethic was passed on to his children and grandchildren. When not working, Dave loved to spend time with his family, collect comic books and antiques, do puzzles, paint pictures, go to the casino and play with the numerous puppies he had over the years. Cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers was a must. Always joking and making people laugh was a passion of his, including telling people his name was "Donald Trump" and telling people he was "sober" when asked how he was. Many pictures you would often find him making faces.
David is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald Norenberg and Lawrence Porter; in-laws, Virgil and Opal Exley; step-father, Horace Porter; sister-in-law, Gail Field; brothers-in-law, Ronald Exley and LeRoy Miller Sr; and step-sister, Barbara Kuhn. He is survived by one sister, Patricia Miller; sisters-in-law, Linda (Daryel) Fisher and Jeanette Exley; brother-in-law, Kenneth Field and many nieces and nephews. He also is survived by Amy Mercer and Edie Lindert whom he considered other daughters.
