Deke McGovern, age 36 of Santa Monica, CA and formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Santa Monica - U.C.L.A. Hospital in California.

Deke was born on May 14, 1975 to Ben Housden and Ericka Zimmerman. He attended Beaver Dam High School and moved to California to work in the hotel industry. Deke was an avid sports fan, especially the Packers, Brewers and Bucks. He loved being outdoors and was an excellent swimmer. He always had a smile on his face and had a great love for his niece and nephew. Deke enjoyed traveling and "being free".

Deke is survived by his mother Ericka Clawson of Madison; his sister, Ami (Augie) Lavine of Madison; his grandmother, Darlene Zimmerman of Beaver Dam; his uncle, Jeffrey (Pat) Zimmerman of Fond du Lac, his niece, Alisha and nephew, Anthony. He is further survived by cousins, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ben Housden and his grandfather, Leon "Manny" Zimmerman.

A private family Memorial Service will be held and inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
