Delbert O. Denzer, age 90 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living in Beaver Dam.
Delbert was born on November 17, 1921 in Denzer, WI to Herbert and Minnie (nee Gasser) Denzer. He graduated from Prairie du Sac High School and later went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army during World War II. On September 25, 1948 he was united in marriage to his sweetheart Myrna Adam at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He was employed at Gardner's Baking Company for over 30 years and upon his retirement he did janitorial work at First Ev. Lutheran Church. Delbert was a long-time member of First Ev. Lutheran Church where he was very active and served as an usher, a member of the retirees group, sewed quilt tops for the quilters group and volunteered for numerous Thrivent events. He was also an avid fisherman, loved woodworking, playing pool and ping pong.
Delbert is survived by his children, Duane "Buck" D. (Ronda) Denzer of St. Cloud, FL, Sandra (Joe) Mitchell of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Tiffany M. (Tony) Calleja, Heidi R. (Walt Vodrazka) Albrecht both of Henderson, NV, Matt J. (Bethany) Denzer of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; step-granddaughter, Michelle Mitchell of San Diego, CA, great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Denzer and Colby Calleja and a step-great-grandchild William Mitchell. He is further survived by his sister, Arlene Milton of Beaver Dam along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Delbert is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Myrna in 2010, his mother and father-in-law, four brothers, one brother-in-law and four sister-in-laws.
A Funeral Service for Delbert will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 311 W. Mackie St. with Rev. Dr. Mark Molldrem officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, November 16, 2012 from 4 -6 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. There will also be visitation on Saturday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the funeral service at the church and burial will later take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the Township of Trenton.
