Obituary

Delmar Junior Kienast, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh.

Visitation for Del will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Paul Lidtke will officiate. A luncheon will follow the service at Markesan City Hall, 150 Bridge St. Burial will take place at Grand View Cemetery, Marquette on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.

Delmar was born on April 2, 1947 in Beaver Dam, the son of August and Adalia (Maas) Kienast. He graduated from Horicon High School in 1965, where he enjoyed playing basketball, tennis and the drums. On August 19, 1965, he was united in marriage to Karen Jean Ebert. Karen and Del were married 49 years and demonstrated what love was all about. He worked in various woodworking and construction jobs his whole life and also owned The Homestead Bar & Restaurant in Marquette for 15 years with his wife, Karen. He was a member of the Marquette Volunteer Fire Department for many years, serving as fire chief for a time, and an active member of the Green Lake County Tavern League. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.

Del had numerous hobbies, including turning wooden bowls, making furniture, fixing things, playing online gambling games and Bubble Witch Saga II. He would help anyone he could and loved to gift his handmade bowls to friends and family. These treasured gifts will forever be reminders of him. Del raised Chihuahuas when he was younger and had a few good dogs, including Tina, Dutchess, Bingo and Blackie. He would be the first to say he didn't like cats, but he fell in love with Oreo and Copper. Grandpa Kienast played a large part in his grandchildren's lives and they will miss his wisdom, love and firm words.

Del will be dearly missed by his wife, Karen of Oshkosh; his children, Lori Ann (Troy) Moldenhauer of Burlington and Marc Delmar Kienast of Oshkosh; his grandchildren, Tia, Josh, Abby, Jordan and Kyler Moldenhauer and Xavier, Elijah and Gabrielle Kienast; his siblings, Merlin (Anita), Willard (Lanet) and Joyce Kienast; 22 nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister in infancy; brothers, Eugene (Dorothy), Melvin (Doris) and Robert; nephew, Dennis Kienast and other relatives.
