Delores “Tootie” Rens, 88, of Waupun, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at The Christian Homestead in Waupun.
Delores was born March 1, 1930 near Waupun, the daughter of John and Hattie Vande Zande Bresser. Delores was a graduate of Waupun High School. On February 1, 1950 she married Ben Rens in Waupun. Following their marriage the couple resided in rural Waupun all their married lives. Delores and Ben farmed together until 1958 at which time they started Rens Nursery. They began selling fruits and vegetables and later trees and shrubs. Delores had many interests and hobbies in life. She was an avid bowler, bird watcher, grew roses, enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s athletic events, and was a follower of the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers. Delores was a member of the Waupun Lioness Club and Waupun Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Delores was a member of First Reformed Church in Waupun where she was a member of the Women’s Guild, taught Sunday School, sung in the choir, and delivered Meals on Wheels. She and Ben enjoyed their home on Dead Wood Point on the east side of Lake Winnebago for over 20 years.
Delores is survived by a son, Benjeman (Lisa) Rens of Waupun; three daughters: Roxanne (Dan) McGurk of Waupun, Peggy (Rod) Freeman of Ripon, and Robyn (Mark) Streekstra of Waupun; 12 grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marlene Rens of Waupun; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Rens; a brother, Russell Bresser; and a sister, Laurene Rens.
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Funeral services for Delores Rens will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 12 noon at First Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Barry Lang officiating.
Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.
