Donald A. Westphal, age 71 of formerly of Beaver Dam and currently a resident of the Christian Home in Waupun, died on Monday, April 26, 2010 at Waupun Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Donald was born on October 5, 1938 in Beaver Dam to Carl and Lucille (nee Schreiber) Westphal. He was married to Kathleen Nickel on January 4, 1958 in Beaver Dam. Donald worked for the Dodge County Highway Department for 38 years and retired in 1997. He was past President for Lost Lake Improvement Association and a member of Wings Over Wisconsin and Ducks Unlimited. Donald enjoyed and spent a lot of time hunting and fishing.

Donald is survived by his children, Kathy Woock of Beaver Dam, Mary (Gary) Czarniak of Milwaukee, Jeff (Cheryl) Westphal, Gerry (Tammy) Westphal both of Beaver Dam; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by 4 brother and 4 sister-in-laws, his former wife Kathy, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law; Ervin and Freida Nickel and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. In honoring Donald's wishes, cremation will take place.
