Click HERE to view Donald's Life Tribute Video.Donald H. Hecht, age 76 of Juneau, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Christian Home & Rehabilitation Center in Waupun.

Donald was born on January 21, 1935 in Green Lake County to Daniel and Leone (nee Zuhlke) Hecht. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines from 1954 through 1957. On July 15, 1961, he was united in marriage to Jeanne Godsell at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Horicon. Donald worked in the Experimental Department at John Deere in Horicon for many years.

Donald was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clyman, and well as the Juneau American Legion Post 15, the Lowell VFW Post 9392 and a lifetime member of the Juneau Rod and Gun Club. Donald took great pride in mowing his lawn and snow blowing. He enjoyed hunting and fishing up north, taking his family camping, traveling to Montana, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his wife, Jeanne Hecht of Juneau; his children, Diane (Tom) LaCrosse of Waupun, Daniel (Kathy Shanks) Hecht of Stratford, WI, and Debbie (Jamie) Kluge of Juneau; his grandchildren, Melissa Hecht, Alan Rose, Heather Rose, Jim (Cheryl) Kluge, Andy (Megan) Kluge, Eric Kluge, Katelyn Kluge and Kolton Kluge; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys (Robert) Firari of Beaver Dam and Kathy Franke of Burnett; one sister-in-law, Kathy (Howie) Buss of Oconomowoc; three brothers-in-law, Tom Godsell of Juneau, John Fritsche of West Bend and Robert Godsell of Neosho. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harvey (Kay) Hecht; his mother and father-in-law, Tom and Theresa Godsell; and his sister-in-law, Margaret Fritsche.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 714 Church Street, Clyman with Fr. Andy Cribben and Fr. Rick Wendell as celebrants. Visitation will take place on Thursday prior to the service at the church, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Holy Assumption Cemetery in Clyman.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Michael Frontiera at Dean Medical Center in Madison, the staff at Columbus Hospital and Dean Care Clinic, all of the nurses from Hillside Hospice, Drs. Sam and Rolf Poser, and the staff of Waupun Christian Home for all of your compassion and loving care.
