Obituary

Donald "Donnie" R. Dallman was called home to his heavenly Father on Monday, October 21, 2024 after passing away unexpectedly at home at the age of 91 years.

Visitation for Donnie will take place on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 65 W. Catherine St., Markesan, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral serivce at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jason Jobs officiating. Burial will take place at Lake Maria Cemetery, town of Manchester.

Donnie was born on August 4, 1933, the son of Frank and Ella (Grahn) Dallman. He was baptized and confirmed in his everlasting faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan where he was a member all his life. He married the love of his life Patricia Paddock on November 19,1955 and God blessed them with nearly 66 years of marriage.

Donnie worked for many years on a farm, as well as for Grand River Co­op and Speed Queen. He owned and operated Double "D" Bar in Markesan for many years sponsoring Double "D" men's softball team and many men's and women's bowling teams. After selling the bar in 1983, he went to work for the city of Markesan until he retired in 2002. He enjoyed mowing lawns and mowed the Lake Maria Cemetery for over 50 years. He served the Markesan community as a member of the Markesan Fire Department and the Markesan Historical Society.  He was a charter member of the Grand River Marsh Turkey Club. Donnie enjoyed hunting turkey and deer and did that until the age of 90. He also loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play in sports and participate in other extracurricular activities. He was also an avid Packers, Badgers, and Brewers fan.

Donnie will be sadly missed by his children, Donette (Marcel) Strelow, Pamela (Larry) Jenkins, Dale Dallman, and Paul (Maureen) Dallman; grandchildren, Steven (Lora Sommerfeldt) Strelow, Dan Strelow, Jessica (Kent) Kastenschmidt, Joshua (Jodi) Jenkins, Justin (Lori) Jenkins, Caelyn and Graesyn Dallman, Kersten (Brian) Schreurs, Karissa Dallman, Bailey (Connor) Hunter; great-grandchildren, Bryon, Andruw and Emma Strelow, Gavin Sommerfeldt, Delaney and Easton Strelow, Peyton, Colton, Ryan and Rachel Jenkins, Kenley Schreurs, Saylor and Sage Hunter; twin sister, Donna Ponto, and brother Russell (Bev) Dallman; and many dear nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Donnie was preceded in death by his loving wife Pat on October 21, 2021; his parents, Frank and Ella Dallman; Pat's parents, Stanley and Eleanor Paddock; brother, Elden (Gladys) Dallman; sister Eloise (Earl) Galow; brother-in-law Eldon Ponto; and granddaughter, Joyce Strelow.
