Doris Emma Schumacher (nee Druecke), age 92, of Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam. Doris was born on February 10, 1918 in Oak Grove, WI to Rudolph and Adela (nee Sell) Druecke. She graduated from Juneau High School in 1935, and on March 5, 1936 she was united in marriage to Carrol "Bosco" Schumacher in Illinois. She farmed with her husband in the Town of Clyman until 1960, when she moved to Juneau. In 1990, Doris moved to Beaver Dam. After retiring as a seamstress from Clearview in Juneau, she volunteered in Beaver Dam schools, was active in St. Stephen's U.C.C. Ladies' Aid in Juneau and liked spending time at the Beaver Dam Senior Center. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts and going to church dinners with her friends.
Doris is survived by her children, Lyle (Judy) Schumacher of Watertown, Barbara (William) Mullin of Fox Lake, Mary Lee (Dean) Peterman of Juneau, and Janet Schumacher of New York; her grandchildren, Kelly (Randy) Braunschweig, Daniel (Barb) Mullin, David (Connie) Mullin, Paul (Anita), Kurt and Kale (Joyce) Peterman, Bryan Paulsen, Deb (Curt) Pedersen; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Druecke of Oak Grove, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband "Bosco" in 1981, and her siblings, Edna (Harold) Lepien, LeRoy (Evelyn) Druecke, Ada (Norman) Loos and Russell Druecke. She is also preceded in death by two special nieces, Marcy Moldenhauer and Carlene Huber-Koelsch, and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Doris will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd in Beaver Dam with Rev. David Dykstra officiating. A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at Juneau City Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen's U.C.C., 426 N. Main St., Juneau, WI 53039; Faith Community Church, 401 Stone St., Beaver Dam, WI 53916; or to the charity of one's choice.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to all staff and volunteers at Eagle's Wings for all of their loving care and help over the past six years, and also to all of the staff and doctors at Beaver Dam Community Hospital, Hillside Manor and Hillside Hospice for the comfort and care during her last days.
