Doris M. (Hirsch) Ryan, age 91 of Beaver Dam, passed away at Charleston House with family by her side on Thursday, April 27, 2023.

Doris was born on November 5, 1931, in Comfrey, Minnesota, the daughter of Rowland "Bud" and Clara (Beckius) Hirsch. She was one of six girls in her family. The family spent their entire life in Springfield, Minnesota where her father was a road contractor. Doris attended schools in Springfield where she met her high school sweetheart and eventual husband, Dan. Dan and Doris married in Springfield in 1951. After Dan was discharged from the service they moved to Chanhassen, Minnesota and lived there for 15 years raising their children. Doris was a stay-at-home mom until the family moved to Beaver Dam in 1973 when she began working as a bookkeeper for Neuman Pools for the next 12 years.

Doris adored her children and grandchildren. She made sure to spend many hours with them, as they were the light of her life. Doris was a homebody and could often be found playing cards, working in her flower beds, or curling up and reading a good book.

Doris is survived by her husband, Dan; children, Sandy Ryan, Kurt (Ruth) Ryan, and Amy (Paul) Smith, all of Beaver Dam; six grandchildren, Shenna (Michael) Cox, Jesse (Ashley Jo) Biggs, Adam Ryan, Nick (Taylor) Smith, Mariah (Nick) Krelwitz, and Max Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Zach Ryan, Taylor Cox, Kimberly (Colin) Spivey, Tucker Biggs, Mabel Krelwitz, Maeve Krelwitz, and Tyson Smith; and further survived by her sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Doris was proceeded in death by her parents, Rowland "Bud" and Clara Hirsch; daughter, Suzanne Biggs in 2014; son-in-law, Ray Biggs in 2006; two grandchildren; and other relatives.

A graveside service for Doris will take place on Friday, June 23, 2023 at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam, starting at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.

Doris will be greatly missed by her family and friends. May she rest in the peace of God.
