Obituary

With wings silent, but strong, Dorothy Dickerson soared to her eternal home on the morning of June 10, 2019.

A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 316 Vine St., Kingston with Rev. Frank Rose officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at church, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Immediately following the service, burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston, followed by a luncheon to be served at the Kingston Legion Hall.

Dorothy was born on April 29, 1932 in Dalton, the daughter of Adolph and Anna Mae (Beahm) Graff. She was confirmed on April 7, 1946 in Dalton and graduated from Markesan High School in 1948. On April 20, 1952, she was united in marriage to James K. Dickerson in Friesland. Over the years, Dorothy held various jobs. In addition to driving school bus, she also worked at the Kingston grocery store, as a CNA in Wyocena, and for the Health & Human Services Department in Green Lake. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kingston.

As an avid bird lover, she found great joy in watching the feeders each day and chuckling at the mischievous squirrels trying to get their share. Riding shotgun alongside her dear friend Betty Freimark, she went on many an adventure, including a cherished trip to Branson, which was always one of her greatest memories.

Above all, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. With a glimmer in her eye and a smile as bright as the morning sun, she would hold them tight as babies just to "have a look at them", and as they grew, she would listen to their tales and accomplishments and chuckle at all their shenanigans along the way. She also loved visits from her "grand puppies" who held a special place in her heart.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Keith (Judy) Dickerson of Markesan, Mark (Linda) Dickerson of Marquette and Louise (Gary) Jenkins of Kingston; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Delores Dickerson of Ripon; dear friend, Betty Freimark; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; brother, Alfred Graff; 2 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; grandson-in-law, Todd Campnell; cousins and other relatives.

Dorothy was able to reside in her home in Kingston, at "Grumpy Acres" largely due to the support of her family, especially Amie and Amber, who "kept an eye on her" until August of 2018 when she retired to Markesan Resident Home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Markesan Resident Home and Agnesian Hospice Hope for their care and support of Dorothy during her stay.

If desired, memorials in Dorothy's name may be directed to the Kingston Mill Pond Library , PO Box 98, Kingston, WI 53939.
