Dorothy Ida Hansen, age 99 of Burnett, WI passed away at home on June 26,2024.

A memorial gathering for Dorothy will take place on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd, Beaver Dam, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Harold Bender officiating.

She was born on August 16, 1924 to the late Christian and Minnie Zaddack of Hayes, WI and grew up on the farm with her parents and 6 brothers and sisters.

After high school, Dorothy moved to Chicago.  She lived with her aunt and uncle and worked as a secretary for the Milwaukee Railroad.  During her time there she met her beloved husband, Harlyn.  They were married in December of 1956.  The couple moved to Milwaukee in 1960 and welcomed a son, Robert, in 1964.

Dorothy's life was centered around faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior.  This started as a child with her parents and siblings at St. John's Lutheran Church and School in Hayes and then at Bethel Lutheran, Chicago where she and Harlyn were married, before continuing at St. Paul's Lutheran in West Allis. She often talked of her teachers and pastors. They must have taught her well because long after dementia so badly impaired her memory, she could still join us in prayer.

She was involved in St. Paul's Lutheran Grade School PTL and Martin Luther High School Aux Guild volunteering for the large annual rummage sale.

She enjoyed growing flowers and tending her yard.  She greatly valued time together with family.  She lovingly cared for Harlyn during his many years with Alzheimer's.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Bob (Julie) Hansen; sister, Ellie Yellick; brother, Lee (Shirley) Zaddack; two grandsons, Daniel and Matthew Hansen; and further survived by many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlyn; sisters, Ruth and Bernice; and two brothers, Clarence and Vernon.
