She was born at the Pretz homestead in Markesan, WI on Sunday morning, July 20, 1930 to Frank and Clara (Moldenhauer) Pretz. She was baptized August 17, 1930 and confirmed March 25 th , 1945 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan. Her entire grade school education was completed in a one room schoolhouse. In June of 1948, she graduated from Markesan High. In September of that same year, she started working as a nurse's aide at the old Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Beaver Dam.

On September 6, 1952, she married her life partner, Glen Linde. Together they were blessed with seven children.

In 1954, they moved back to the Linde homestead with Glen's folks to help them manage their mini farm.

Upon coming to Beaver Dam, Dorothy joined St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church. She sang at the church's weekly radio taping. She was also an avid blood donor, having donating over twenty gallons throughout the course of her life. She volunteered on spa day at Lakeview Hospital, styling the patients' hair. She continued to do the same at Hillside Manor until retiring in 2014.

Dorothy enjoyed her monthly lunches with her classmates and her breakfasts with the "Low Voltage" club of Wisconsin Power and Light.

She loved doing needlework, Crewel embroidery and cross stitch. Many of her family members have a beautiful piece in remembrance of her. She and Glen enjoyed watching animal shows and listening to polka music together. She also enjoyed doing word searches.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter Kay; her daughter-in-law Joan Linde; her husband, Glen (2015); her in-laws, Albert & Laura Linde; her parents, Frank & Clara Pretz; Glen's sisters, Georgianna (Robert) Hampton and Lucille (James) Halloran and her brother, Alden (Marguerite) Pretz.

She also leaves behind nine great grandchildren – Morgan, Lia, Jace, Harrison, Marshall, Warren, Jonah, Calla and Remy and four step-great grandchildren – Gracie, Kaitlyn, Blake, Lila and step-great great grandson, Isaac.

As Dorothy would say: "See you in the funny papers!"
