Dorris Jane Heitmann of Markesan, Wisconsin, passed away, on July 19, 2021, at the age of 77.

A memorial gathering for Dorris will be held on Thursday, July 29 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Dorris was born on September 17, 1943, in Trigg County, Kentucky to Louie and Lillian (Bridges) P'Pool. She was married to her husband of nearly 60 years, Gary Heitmann on December 26, 1961 in Kentucky. Shortly after Dorris became a devout Jehovah's Witness and moved with Gary to Wisconsin. After moving to Wisconsin, Dorris worked in a local canning factory early on but spent much of her time raising the kids. Dorris was an avid reader and could often be found bird watching in her free time.

Dorris is survived by her loving husband, Gary; children, Scott Heitmann, Forrest (Londa) Heitmann, Michael Heitmann, Caleb Heitmann, Trudy (Scott) Schettle, Michelle Heitmann, and Valerie (Duane) Hickman; grandchildren, Michael, Hailey, DJ, McKenzie, and Jessie;  brother, Jimmy P'Pool; niece, Christy (Chris) Brown-Foster; nephews, Ricky P'Pool and Johnny (Sandra) Brown; special friends, Debbie Corraro and Sandy Gombos; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Becky P'Pool; and brother-in-law, Glenn Heitmann Jr.
