Edna Smit, 92, of Waupun, went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Christian Home in Waupun where she had been residing.



Edna was born April 29, 1920 in Alto the daughter of Florence and Hilda Bille Sanders. On September 18, 1942 she married William Smit and the couple farmed in the town of Waupun most of their lives and retired in 1977. Bill died in 1987 and Edna remained on the family farm until early 2000. She then moved to the City of Waupun and in 2004 resided at the Christian Home where she shared Bible study with many of her friends. Edna was a charter member of Trinity Reformed Church in Waupun and was a member of its Guild as well as a dedicated teacher who taught God’s words at its Sunday School. Edna had many friends with whom she traveled and especially enjoyed the trips to Israel and Brazil.

Edna is survived by her sons, Harvey (Marcia) Smit of Mayville, Kenneth (Linda) Smit of Brandon, and Floyd (Mary Ann) Smit of Brandon; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Loomans of Waupun.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; three brothers, George, Henry and Alfred Sanders; and two sisters, Martina Oosterwyk and Florence Lemmenes.


Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Tuesday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Services:
Funeral services for Edna Smit will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. John White officiating.

Burial:
Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery.
