Elaine D. Seeliger, age 89 of Waupun, formerly of Markesan, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.
Visitation for Elaine will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 65 W. Catherine St., Markesan, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jason Jobs officiating. Burial will take place at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.
Elaine was born on December 9, 1929, in Marquette, WI, the daughter of Albert and Dorothy (Mildebrandt) Schueler. On June 12, 1949, she was united in marriage to Walter Seeliger at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marquette. Since 1971, Elaine worked as a nurse for Waupun Memorial Hospital and Riverdale Manor in Markesan. She later worked as a home healthcare nurse with Agnesian and volunteered for Agnesian Hospice until the age of 87. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan and active with the Ladies Aid. Elaine loved to garden and was a member of both the Markesan Gardenettes and the Wisconsin Garden Club Federation, where she held several offices and was an accredited floral judge. Additionally, Elaine was a member of the Markesan Kiwanis Club, served as a state officer for Kiwanis, and was passionate about volunteering.
Elaine is survived by her children, Kathy (Ron) Fortmann of Oconomowoc; David (Gina) Seeliger of Appleton, and Deb (Greg) Madson of Verona; grandchildren, Kara (Landon) Flaig, Nicholas (Ashley) Madson, Brian (Jeanne) Madson, Brennan (Melissa Weilnau) Seeliger, and Brady Seeliger; great-grandchildren, Pyper and Taryn Flaig; siblings, Leland Schueler of Princeton, Ardis Sabel of Ripon, and Merlyn (Carol) Schueler of Waupun; sister-in-law, Millie Dahlke of Marquette; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; siblings, Wilbert (Lorna) Schueler and Edward (Berniece) Schueler; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Harry) Kelley and Verona Schueler; brothers-in-law, Harold Sabel and Donald Dahlke; and other relatives.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Christian Homestead and Agnesian Hospice for their compassionate care.
