Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother ,sister, and aunt, Elaine Dorn, who passed away peacefully on October 12th at the age of 102.

A memorial service to celebrate her remarkable life will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam, at 1:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather to share in the remembrance of a life well-lived from the time of 11:00 am-1:00 pm. Inurnment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Born on June 20th,1922 in Columbus, Wisconsin, Elaine lived a remarkable life, one filled with love, resilience, and devotion to her family. She was the daughter of Dan and Helen McMillan, and her kindness and strength were evident to all who knew her.

On April 11th, 1942, Elaine married Glenn Dorn, with whom she shared a wonderful 71 years of marriage. Together, they created a loving home and a legacy of devotion, partnership, and enduring love. Glenn Dorn preceded her in death in 2013, but their love story continues to inspire all who remember them.

A proud mother to her daughter, Beverly, and a devoted grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Elaine will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Merlin) Gentz, her two grandchildren, Jeff (Ann) Gentz and Jennifer (Cory) Torbenson, her seven great-grandchildren, Rachel (Josh) Buser; Jonathan Gentz; Haidyn Torbenson; Abigail (Ryan) Anderson; Preston Torbenson; Caitlin Torbenson; and Elizabeth Gentz; and her two great-great-grandchildren, Denver and Rosalie Buser who were all the pride and joy of her life. She is further survived by her siblings, Richard McMillan and Dr. Katie (McMillan) Soles; and many loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who brought her immense happiness throughout her life.

In addition to her dedication to family, Elaine was a hardworking and committed professional throughout her life. She worked first at Woolworths Dime Store. Then as a member of Mercury Marine for many years, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and all those who worked alongside her. Her strong work ethic, dedication, and optimistic character were qualities that she carried into everything she did.

Throughout her life, Elaine enjoyed reading, cooking, time with family, and playing cards - especially Canasta. Her great-grandchildren have even awarded her Applesauce recipe the title of "Greatest in the World". Her wisdom, warmth, and gentle spirit touched everyone she met, and her presence will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Dorn; her parents, Daniel and Helen McMillan; parents-in-law- Robert and Myrtle Dorn; grandson, Jason Gentz; sister, Margie (Wilber) Quandt; brother, Malcolm (Lavita) McMillan; brother, Eugene (Joyce/Inez) McMillan; brother, Winston (Violet) McMillan; sister-in-law, Ruth (Marvin) Melcher; brother-in-law, Earl (Betty) Dorn; sister-in-law, Patricia McMillan; brother-in-law, Thomas Soles; and other relatives.

The family would like to give thanks to the incredible staff at Hillside Manor that took care of her the past several years. Although she is no longer with us, Elaine will live on in the hearts and memories of all who loved her. Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will never be forgotten.
