Elden Frank Dallman, 89, of Markesan passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Theda Care Medical Center Berlin. He was the eldest son of Frank and Ella (Grahn) Dallman, born on October 6, 1928 at home in the town of Mackford Prairie, Green Lake County, Wisconsin. Elden attended Lake Emily Grade School and graduated from Markesan High School in 1946. He then worked as a hired man for several area farmers. On June 28, 1953, he married the love of his life, Gladys Tessmann, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friesland, Wisconsin. God blessed them with over 63 years of marriage.
After they were married, Elden farmed just south of Markesan for 9 years. In 1962, Elden, Gladys and family moved to Markesan and Elden bought ½ interest in the Markesan Implement Company and became the sole owner in 1975. Due to health reasons, he retired in 1984. Elden was involved in many community organizations over the years; serving on the Manchester School Board, was a member of the Markesan City Council and was a Green Lake County Board Supervisor for 14 years. During his retirement, he held part time jobs at Flyway Mutual Insurance and Fischer's Ag Supply. Elden was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan. He was baptized at home on November 4, 1928 and confirmed on Palm Sunday April 18, 1943. He served on the Church Council and sang in the choir for over 65 years. Elden also enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, playing cards, watching sports and attending family gatherings. He was especially proud of all his grandchildren.
Elden is survived by his children, Debra (Mike) McGuire of Marquette, David (Peggy) Dallman of Blue Mounds, Diane (Dennis) Floeter of rural Markesan, and Daryl (Christine) Dallman of rural Dalton; his grandchildren, Michael (Mary) McGuire, Michelle McGuire, Melissa McGuire, Jason (Kristen) Dallman, Lyndsey (Rick) Garske, Nick Nelson, Brian Floeter, and Becca (Abram) Vaccaro; his great-grandchildren; Lyric Garske, Griffin Garske, Stella Dallman and Finn Dallman. He is also survived by his brothers and their wives; Donald (Patricia) Dallman and Russell (Beverly) Dallman; sister Donna Ponto and sister-in-law Ann Tessmann; many dear nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Elden was preceded in death by his wife Gladys on August 5, 2016, his parents, Frank and Ella Dallman, Gladys' parents, Arthur and Martha (Kantorowicz) Tessmann, infant daughter Doreen in 1961, sister Eloise Galow, sister-in-law Marjorie Prochnow Redman, brothers-in-law Eldon Ponto, Earl Galow, Alvin Prochnow, Robert Redman and Louis Tessmann.
A funeral service for Elden will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan with Pastor Jason Jobs officiating. Visitation will be held at 9:00 am until the time of service. A fellowship lunch will be served immediately following the service at the church. Joint interment for Elden and Gladys will be held at a later date at Lake Maria Cemetery, Town of Manchester.
