IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth "Betty"
J. Wallendal
August 25, 1924 – December 4, 2010
Elizabeth "Betty" J. Wallendal, age 86 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 4, 2010 surrounded by her family at home.
Betty was born on August 25, 1924 in Fond du Lac to Melvin and Angeline (nee Kohl) Graff. During World War II, she worked at Monarch Range, making artillery shells. She also worked at CNC Liquidators, as a CNA at Clearview in Juneau, along with Lakeview and Hillside Hospitals, and most recently as a greeter at Wal-Mart. Betty was united in marriage to Mike Wallendal in Beaver Dam in 1962. She was previously married to Donald Hess. Betty was an active member of the former St. Patrick's Catholic Church and St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam, where she sang in the choir and enjoyed ushering. She was also a member of the Eagles Club. She loved spending time outdoors and watching all of the neighborhood squirrels and birds. Staying active was important to Betty, so you could often find her walking, exercising or going to yoga class. While Betty loved the community of Beaver Dam and her dog Sugar, in her heart nothing came close to the love she felt for her family. She will be dearly missed by all of them.
Betty is survived by her husband, Mike Wallendal of Beaver Dam; her children, Luana "Loni" Kuhlman of Plymouth, Rhonda (Roger) Nelson of De Pere, and Donald "Don" Hess of Greenfield; seven grandchildren, Alicia, Michael, Brian, Bridget, Darwin, Angela, Shannon and Betty Jo; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elaine (Clarence) Warmka of Beaver Dam. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Donald Hess; her sisters, Alice Weeks and Marlene Wapneski; and one brother and sister whom both died in infancy, Melvin and Sandy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 127 W. Maple Ave, Beaver Dam with Father Mike Erwin officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 6, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Services, 135 Keller Blvd, Beaver Dam, and also on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place after the Mass at Highland Memory Gardens, Town of Trenton, with a luncheon to follow back at the church.
