Ellen A. Sommers, age 89, of Markesan, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019 at the Barrett House in Markesan.

Visitation for Ellen will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m with Rev. Brenda Jahns-Grams officiating. Burial will take place at Grand View Cemetery, Marquette.

Ellen was born on June 25, 1929 in Alto, WI, the daughter of Elmer and Anes (Duven) Vande Zande. On October 21, 1950, she was united in marriage to Orrin F. Sommers. She worked as a seamstress at Kolpin Outdoors in Fox Lake for 22 years. Ellen enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, knitting, crocheting and playing organ.

Ellen is survived by her son, Scott (Jill) Sommers of Markesan; grandsons, Eric (Missy) Greene of St. Cloud, MN and Tim (Tanya) Greene of Monona; great-grandchildren, Hudson, Lawson, Connor and Collins; siblings, Sylvia Schouten of Waupun, Warren "Bud" (Kay) Vande Zande of Waupun, Keith Vande Zande of Fox Lake, Velma Seidl of Ripon, Delores (Paul) Vande Kolk of Waupun, Elaine (Bob) Veenhuis of Ohio, Inez (Don) Bronkhorst of Waupun, Judy Vernon of Ripon; sister-in-law, Millie Vande Zande of Waupun; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Irwin and Mike (Luella) Vande Zande; sister, Laverne (Gilbert) Henslin and other relatives.
