Eva Grace Barstow, age 92 of Beaver Dam, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 21, 2011 at her home.

Eva Grace was born on March 12, 1918 in the town of West Point, Columbia County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Roy and Ethel Mae (Pate) Chrislaw. She was married to Ervin J. Barstow on November 3, 1937 in the town of Trenton, Dodge County, Wisconsin. She and her husband lived and worked the farm for 65 years in the town of Westford, Dodge County, Wisconsin before moving to Beaver Dam in 1992.

Eva graduated from Rust School, a rural school in Columbia County, and then attended Randolph High School for three years before her parents moved to Beaver Dam. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School with the class of 1936. She attended Columbia County Teacher's College, earning a teaching certification, and then went to UW-Oshkosh and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Upper and Lower Education, along with Library Science. She taught school in the Cambria-Friesland Area Schools.

Eva was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher and superintendant for many years. She was also a member of United Methodist Women's Society, where she was the President for a number of years and held other offices through the years. She has been a member of the Order of Eastern Star since 1943, joining in Randolph, followed by Beaver Dam and Waupun, and presently in Fond du Lac. She was a past Worthy Matron and held several offices over the years. Eva and her husband enjoyed square dancing and belonged to the Courtland Squares of Doylestown. She was also a 4H club leader in Dodge County for 30 years and worked at Green Giant Pillsbury Co. for many years. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

Eva is survived by her four daughters, Helen Weisensel of Beaver Dam, Mary Jean (Adrian) Kurth of Brown Deer, Joanne Fadness of Beaver Dam and Christine (Peter) Knaup, of Beaver Dam; two sons, James (Mary Alice) Barstow of Beaver Dam and Roy Barstow of Juneau; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, MaryAnn Barrier of Murphy, North Carolina; one brother, David (Phyllis) Chrislaw of Shullsburg, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son Gary; her husband, Ervin in 2002; two brothers, Robert Chrislaw and Wallace Chrislaw; one sister-in-law, Betty Chrislaw; one brother-in-law, William Barrier; and one son-in-law, Lyle Weisensel.

A Funeral Service for Eva will take place on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam with Rev. Jeff Nicholas officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 from 5 -8 p.m. at Cornerstone and also on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Service. Burial will take place at Courtland Cemetery in the Town of Courtland.
