Everett “Whitie” Vossekuil, age 94, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, just days shy of his 95th birthday.
Everett was born on May 13, 1930, the son of Albert and Sophia Klawikowski Vossekuil. Everett lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a deep love for his family. Growing up in Beaver Dam, Everett attended local schools before embarking on a path that would see him contribute significantly to his community. He spent many years working on farms in the area and further developed his skills at Monarch Range Foundry in Beaver Dam. On May 2, 1958, he married Darlene Dornbrook, who remained the love of his life until her passing after 50 years of marriage.
Throughout his career, Everett made a lasting impact at Michaels Corporation, where he dedicated over two decades of service. His love for working outside led him to co-create EM Vossekuil and Son, a landscaping business he ran alongside his son, which flourished until his early 80s. Even after officially retiring, Everett enjoyed engaging in part-time work, showcasing his work ethic.
Everett was not just a man of labor but also one of many interests and passions. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, he was proud of his Harley Davidson and felt the thrill of racing. His love for competition extended to NASCAR and football, where he passionately cheered for the Green Bay Packers. Additionally, he delighted in building model airplanes and casting lines while fishing.
Everett is survived by his four children: Debra (Michael) Leu, Denise (Geoff) Wellens, Dan Vossekuil, and Dawn (Tom) Kaminski; eight grandchildren: Caitlin (Danny) Stoll, Carly Leu, Matt (special friend, Emily) Bauer, Doug (Vanessa) Wellens, Ben (Lacey) Wellens, Alesia (Jake) Redeker, Vanessa (Cody) Eiler, and Zach (Jessica) Hartl; 17 great-grandchildren: Eloise and Clara, Alivia, Aria, Jude, Anika, Asher, Abram, Adele, and Andre, Krew, Rowan, Korbyn, Max, Watson, Tenleigh, and Walker; his in-laws: Dan (Deb) Dornbrook, Tom Dornbrook, and Chris (Gary) VanBuren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Everett was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene; their infant son, David James; his brothers, Alex and Harry Vossekuil; his sisters: Evelyn Nagler, Eleanor Franks, Mildred Diels, Berdell Hallmeyer, Bernice Curtis, and Loraine Vossekuil.
