Florence Gertrude Curran, age 80, of Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Friday, November 20, 2009 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam, surrounded by her family and many caring nurses. Florence was born on December 19, 1928 in Beaver Dam to Oscar and Emma (nee Frietag) Weber. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1946 and later pursued a career in nursing. Florence worked as a Registered Nurse at Hillside Hospital in Beaver Dam and retired in 1993 after 35 years of nursing. Throughout her life Florence had many accomplishments. She mastered the clarinet in the high school band and will always be remembered for her impeccable penmanship. Florence loved to knit, creating everything from baby booties to intricate sweaters. She also enjoyed needlepoint and created many heirloom pieces. If you knew Florence, you know she was always on the go. She loved to watch her son play hockey and march along-side her daughters in the Flying Eagles Baton and Drum Corp. She will be forever missed and cherished as much as she cherished her family and friends.

Florence is survived by her children; Michael (Robin) Curran of Rochester, New York, Linda (Jim) Strysick of Beaver Dam, Elizabeth Curran of Beaver Dam, Tim Curran of Juneau, her grandchildren; Alexander, Maxwell and Zachary Curran, Kelly Schmidt, Tanner and Soni Strysick, Maurice and Jerome Messier, great-grandchildren; Izabelle Renee Messier and Riba. She is further survived by her dear friends, Martin and Jan Richardson, Marguerite Wapneski, Kathy Gould, Markie Curtis, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Curran, a son in infancy and other relatives.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home and a luncheon will immediately follow the Service.
